1 Your Numbers

Your US Assets

Include US-listed shares and US-domiciled ETFs. Do not include Ireland-domiciled funds or Singapore-listed shares: they are not US-situs.

The tax table applies to the whole value of your US assets, not just the part above US$60,000. The US$13,000 credit then cancels exactly the tax on the first US$60,000, which is why that part ends up tax-free.

What This Estimate Assumes

Approximate. Applies the US federal estate tax rate schedule (18% to 40%) to the US-situs value you enter, minus the US$13,000 credit that covers the first US$60,000 for nonresident non-citizens. US-situs assets include shares of US companies and US-domiciled ETFs; Ireland-domiciled funds are not US-situs. Singapore has no estate tax treaty with the US. Ignores deductions, debts, funeral and legal costs, gifts, state taxes, US real estate and other US assets, and how and when the IRS values assets. Rates from the IRS Form 706-NA and Form 706 instructions, checked 12 October 2026. Speak to a qualified tax adviser before acting. Before You Use This Number

Who Pays US Estate Tax?

When a non-US person dies holding US-situs assets worth more than US$60,000, their estate may owe US federal estate tax at 18% to 40%. Singapore has no estate tax treaty with the US to reduce it.

Are Ireland-Domiciled Funds US-Situs?

No. The IRS treats shares of US companies, including US-domiciled ETFs, as US-situs, and shares of non-US companies, such as Ireland-domiciled funds, as not US-situs.

How Accurate Is This?

It is approximate. Deductions, debts, gifts, valuation and other US assets can change the bill. Speak to a qualified tax adviser.
