1 Your Numbers

Your Monthly Split

The pay that reaches your bank account, after tax and any CPF. Work-pass holders pay no CPF.

Money you send to family at home or abroad. It comes off your pay first, and the split is worked out on what is left. Use 0 if none.

Bills you must pay every month, like rent or mortgage, loan repayments, insurance and utilities. These are part of Needs, not extra.

Your three percentages add to 100%.

Needs: housing, bills, groceries, transport, insurance, loan repayments. Lifestyle: eating out, shopping, hobbies, travel. The three must add up to 100%.

What This Estimate Assumes

Rough guide only. Starts at 50% needs, 30% lifestyle and 20% savings. You can change all three, but they must add up to 100%. Use take-home pay after tax and any CPF deduction (foreigners on a work pass pay no CPF). The needs amount is a planning limit, not a judgement. Housing, caregiving or family needs may call for a different split. This tool does not track your real spending.

Before You Use This Number

What Belongs In Needs?

Housing, utilities, groceries, basic transport, insurance premiums, minimum debt payments and essential family support.

Are Fixed Essential Bills Separate From Needs?

No. Fixed essential bills are part of Needs. The tool takes them away from your Needs amount to show what is left each month for other essentials such as groceries and transport.

Must I Follow 50/30/20?

No. It is only a starting point. Change the percentages to fit your bills and goals. Keep the total at 100%.
