Our Sources And Dates

How We Calculate

Every official figure should have a source and a date. Our own planning assumptions are labelled separately, so you can decide if they fit you.

Full ledger reviewed . Entries checked since then show their own date.

How Rankings Stay Independent

Comparison rankings come from published fees, rates and rules only. A sponsor is never shown on a comparison page that ranks its own product, and no sponsor block ever sits inside or beside a ranking. Sponsor blocks go below the page content, and rankings never change for anyone who pays. See our independence rules.

CPF Contribution And Allocation Rates

Official rule verified

37% total at age 55 and below; allocation changes by age band

The projection covers full-rate private-sector contributions before age 55, not graduated PR rates. Salary After CPF follows CPF Board's 2026 rounding sequence: total to nearest dollar, employee share down to dollars, employer share as the remainder. Rounding reviewed 11 September 2026. Age is age at last birthday: CPF Board applies the next age group’s contribution and allocation rates from the first day of the month after the 35th, 45th, 50th, 55th, 60th, 65th and 70th birthdays (checked 12 October 2026).

CPF Interest Used In Projections

Official rule verified

OA 2.5%; SA and MA 4%; extra 1% on the first S$60,000 combined

Money paid in earns interest from the next model month. Housing withdrawals come out before money is paid in. Interest is added once per 12-month model year, not by exact calendar or birthday dates. To keep it simple, all extra interest goes to SA. MediSave is capped at the 2026 BHS (Basic Healthcare Sum) of S$79,000, held flat; the excess moves to SA up to the 2026 FRS, then to OA. Top-up limits are not modelled. We update this when CPF publishes new rates.

S$79,000 for members below 65 in 2026

The projection caps MediSave at this BHS and holds it flat to 55, although CPF raises it each year for members below 65. Below 55, MediSave above the BHS moves to SA until SA holds the current FRS, then to OA (CPF Board FAQ, updated 15 December 2025).

CPF LIFE Standard Plan Reference Payouts

Official rule verified

S$950 at BRS, S$1,780 at FRS and S$3,440 at ERS from age 65

The estimator interpolates between the published points. Actual payouts depend on the member, plan, cohort and payout start age. CPF Board publishes this table for a male member only; no female table was published when checked on 30 September 2026, so the tools say so instead of estimating one. The CPF Top-Up Vs SRS Vs Invest tool reads the same table (RA at 65 column) to estimate the extra payout from a top-up at 55 to 64.

CPF Cash Top-Up Tax Relief

Official rule verified

Up to S$8,000 for self and another S$8,000 across family members

Only qualifying cash top-ups receive relief. Account limits, recipient eligibility, MRSS treatment and the overall personal relief cap can reduce the allowable amount. Relief counts only for top-ups up to the current year’s Full Retirement Sum, even though from 55 the RA can be topped up to the Enhanced Retirement Sum; from 55 the comparison limits CPF relief to the FRS minus the RA balance entered (checked on cpf.gov.sg 12 October 2026).

6-month (182-day) bills auctioned every two weeks and 1-year (364-day) bills about every three months; price = 100 × (1 − yield × days ÷ 365); bids from S$1,000 in S$1,000 steps; cash, SRS or CPF-OA (through a CPFIS agent bank)

The pricing formula matches MAS cut-off prices for BS26119F (1.92%, 99.043), BS26120W (1.90%, 99.053) and BY26102T (1.68%, 98.325). MAS says bank applications may close one to two business days before the auction; the tool shows DBS times (cash and CPF-OA 9pm one business day before, SRS 10am two business days before) and does not model public holidays. CPF-OA investing needs more than S$20,000 in the Ordinary Account (CPF Board). Example rates are past cut-offs, not offers.

Investment Growth And Fee Assumptions

Planning assumption

Your own returns, contributions, fee rates and time periods

The Compound Growth Calculator treats your return as a nominal yearly rate compounded monthly: each month grows by the rate ÷ 12 (5% a year is about 5.12% effective), and you invest at the end of each month. Its low and high band use your return minus and plus 2 points. The optional inflation figure divides the end balance by (1 + inflation) to the power of the years, to show today’s dollars. Fees are simplified to yearly percentages. Neither tool shows an expected market return or recommends a product.
