What This Estimate Assumes
Your sum is split into equal parts (rungs) that start one after another, so one part matures each time you chose. T-bill parts are rounded down to S$1,000 bids and the rest stays in savings. Yearly interest assumes every part is reinvested at the same rate with no gap. In practice, money from a maturing T-bill usually waits about two weeks for the next auction, and rates change at every auction. An auction may give you less than you applied for. Starting rates are examples checked on 12 October 2026, not live quotes: 6-month T-bill BS26120W cut-off 1.90% (8 Oct 2026), 1-year T-bill BY26102T cut-off 1.68% (23 Jul 2026), UOB 6-month fresh-funds fixed deposit 1.60% to 31 Oct 2026. Auction dates are from the MAS calendar; apply-by times are DBS cut-offs, and other banks may close earlier. Not a recommendation to buy any product.

- Cash: apply through DBS/POSB, OCBC or UOB ATMs, internet banking or apps. Bids start at S$1,000, in S$1,000 steps.
- SRS: apply through your SRS operator’s internet banking or app. Money back goes to your SRS account.
- CPF Ordinary Account: apply only through your CPF Investment Scheme agent bank (DBS, OCBC or UOB). You need more than S$20,000 in your Ordinary Account, and money you invest stops earning the 2.5% CPF interest until it goes back.
- Every bill is a new application. When a bill matures, its full face value comes back to the account you paid from. Apply again at a later auction to keep the ladder going.
- Interest from SGS T-bills is tax-free for individuals.
- Fixed deposits: many need S$10,000 or more, some rates are for fresh funds only, and taking money out early can lose the interest.

What Does This Estimate Assume?
Rough estimate using simple interest over your chosen time. T-bills are assumed to roll over at the same rate. SSB uses the first-year average rate you enter. Ignores compounding, FD penalties for early withdrawal, and that you can cash out SSBs in any month. Starting rates are examples only. Check MAS and bank sites for live rates.
